Governor Respond to Outgamie Customs Request Print

Walker issues letter in support of airport plan

April 4, 2014

Appleton, WI – Just one day after Outagamie County Executive Thomas Nelson and Outagamie County Regional Airport Director Abe Weber made a personal appeal to Governor Scott Walker urging his backing for a customs office at the Greenville facility, Walker responded with an unqualified letter of support.

"I am extremely pleased that Governor Walker recognized the case we made for the value of this to our business community," Nelson said. "The future of our airport includes establishing an international presence and we're now better positioned to move forward."

A customs office at Outagamie Regional would provide more direct access to international commercial markets.

"We are very excited about the opportunities this will provide for Outagamie County Regional Airport and our local business community," Weber said. "We look forward to submitting our application to Customs and Border Protection and moving this project forward."
